A 20-year-old man was shot to death in an Anaheim apartment by three intruders, authorities said today.

Officers found the man, whose identity was not confirmed, lying on the living room floor of the apartment with a single gunshot wound to his chest, said Anaheim Police Officer John Oldroyd. Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene, Oldroyd said.

The shooting occurred about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday in an apartment on East Banyan Drive.

The man was with two friends when three intruders entered an open front door, brandishing a knife, handgun and rifle, Oldroyd said. The invaders ordered the victim’s two friends to go to a back room and remain there.

A short time later, the friends told police, they heard a single gunshot, Oldroyd said. They waited a few minutes, then went into the living room and found the victim lying on the floor. The three intruders had fled.

It was not apparent whether anything had been taken from the apartment, Oldroyd said. Investigators were unsure whether the shooting was drug- or gang-related, he said.
