City Council OKs CRA Budget of $349 Million

The Los Angeles City Council approved the Community Redevelopment Agency’s $349-million budget Wednesday and directed CRA officials to place higher priorities on affordable housing, finding remedies for traffic congestion and preserving downtown historic buildings.

In a discussion free of much of the public acrimony that has marked council consideration of CRA issues in recent years, the agency’s spending plan was endorsed on an 11-1 vote, with only Councilman Nate Holden dissenting. The council action represented the first formal CRA budget approval since the lawmakers voted last year to take on more oversight responsibilities for the semi-autonomous agency.
