A 20-year-old Anaheim man was shot to death in an apartment by three intruders who apparently intended to rob him, authorities said.

Police have arrested no suspects in the shooting, which occurred about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday at 2117 E. Banyan Drive.

Officers found the man, whose identity has not been confirmed, lying in the living room with a single gunshot wound to his chest, according to Anaheim Police Officer John Oldroyd. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, Oldroyd said.

The victim had been with two of his friends at the time of the shooting. Three intruders entered an open front door brandishing a knife, handgun and rifle, Oldroyd said.

They ordered the victims’ two friends to go to the back room of the house and remain there.

The friends “could hear voices, but nothing that was distinguishable,” said Anaheim Police Sgt. Chet Barry.

A short time later, friends heard a single gunshot, Oldroyd said. They waited a few minutes, then came into the living room and found the victim lying on the floor. The three assailants had fled.

Barry said officers found a few small appliances just outside the apartment that the intruders apparently had taken.
