R.K. Smith of Carlsbad battled the rain in Des Moines, Iowa, to win his second Escort World Challenge race of the year. Smith’s Corvette finished 23.77 seconds ahead of another Corvette driven by Boris Said of Stamford, Conn. Smith, who won an earlier event in Dallas, averaged 57.66 m.p.h. over the 45-minute race.
