Japan’s Kubota Sued for $25 Million: The suit claims that Kubota Ltd. of Japan forced Ardent Computer of Sunnyvale into a merger with Stellar Computer of Massachusetts to weaken Ardent and gain its technology. The suit was filed by company founders Allen Michels and Matthew Sanders. However, the chief executive of Stardent disassociated the supercomputer company from the lawsuit, saying it was an individual action by Michels and Sanders. Kubota, Ardent’s largest shareholder and creditor, said it would defend itself vigorously against the charges.
