A 22-year-old Oxnard man has pleaded guilty to robbing a Camarillo bank last December, the FBI said.

Andrew Anaya Carrillo is being held in federal custody awaiting sentencing before U.S. District Judge Ronald S.W. Lew. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 17 in Los Angeles, said Special Agent Gary Auer.

Carrillo faces a maximum of 20 years in federal prison and a $5,000 fine for robbing Home Savings of America, in Camarillo on Dec. 14, 1989. He was arrested Dec. 15, 1989, by Oxnard Police on unrelated charges following an investigation conducted by the Oxnard Police Department, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI, Auer said.

A federal grand jury in Los Angeles later charged Carrillo with robbing a Bank of America branch in Newbury Park on Dec. 5, 1989, and Home Savings of America nine days later, Auer said.

Federal charges stemming from the earlier bank robbery were dropped after Carrillo pleaded guilty to the second charge, Auer said.
