Litigation Settlement: Helionetics Inc. in Irvine and Sun Microsystems Inc. in Mountain View said Monday that they have agreed to settle patent litigation between Sun and a company acquired by Helionetics earlier this year.

Sun, a computer workstation manufacturer, sued Definicon in April, 1989, for copyright infringement and misappropriation of trade secrets. Definicon filed a countersuit, charging Sun with unfair competition. The suits were filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.

Under the agreement, both sides will pay their own legal fees and Helionetics will pay $25,000 to Sun to license its Sparc microprocessor technology.
