Clara Marie English; Lifelong Valley Resident

Clara Marie English, a lifelong San Fernando Valley resident, has died in Tarzana at the age of 63.

A Van Nuys resident, she died Tuesday of cancer, said her husband, Joseph English.

She was born Clara Marie Clark on March 1, 1927, in Burbank. After graduating from San Fernando High School, she worked during World War II at Lockheed Corp., installing airplane gas tanks, her husband said.

After the war, she became a waitress, working at various locations including Paul’s Coffee Shop in Canoga Park from 1955 to 1970 and at Biff’s restaurant in Northridge, periodically, from 1979 to 1987.

Mrs. English is survived by her husband of 18 years; sons Adam Bollar, Brent Bollar and David Carr of Canoga Park; daughter, Nickie Carr of Canoga Park; sister, Doris Lawrence of Simi Valley; and 10 grandchildren.

A service was held Thursday, with arrangements made by Bastian & Perrott Mortuary in Northridge.
