Contel Cellular Inc.: The Atlanta-based cellular phone services provider said it had a second-quarter loss of $29.3 million, contrasted with a $1.1-million profit in the year-ago period. The company said the loss was related to the acquisition in February of 13 cellular systems from McCaw Cellular Communications. The acquisitions tripled Contel’s quarterly revenue--to $44 million.
