A Granada Hills jewelry importer was robbed at gunpoint of more than $200,000 worth of precious stones, rings and money after he parked his car in an alley behind his store, Los Angeles police reported.

Ray Gilbert Bowers, 57, of Lake Elizabeth had just arrived from a trip to a downtown diamond brokerage firm when he was approached by a man with a handgun, Lt. Frank Malan said.

Malan said the man ordered Bowers to hand over a pouch containing the stones and the money. Bowers did so, and the robber fled with the jewelry.
