Pasadena : Acting Chief Stays on Job
Acting Police Chief Bruce Philpott, a 27-year veteran of the force, has postponed his retirement until next July 1 to provide more time for City Manager Philip Hawkey to hire a new police chief.
Philpott becomes, for a year, the city’s permanent police chief. During that time, Hawkey, along with the city’s Affirmative Action Commission and the Police Chief’s Advisory Committee, will develop a recruitment and selection process.
Philpott assumed the job of acting police chief last October, when Chief Jim Robenson took a medical leave due to a heart condition. Robenson announced his retirement in May.
