World IN BRIEF : ALGERIA : Bendjedid Bows to Muslim Vote Call

Algerian President Chadli Bendjedid said he will move up parliamentary elections, making a major concession to Muslim fundamentalists who swept June’s local elections. The present National People’s Assembly, elected for five years in February, 1987, is completely controlled by the National Liberation Front, which won only 28% of the popular vote in the June elections.
