Century Cable Television offered a $25,000 reward Tuesday for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who cut a cable line in West Los Angeles, leaving 150,000 homes temporarily without service.
Bill Rosendahl, the firm’s vice president, said a fiber cable line was cut at 11:05 p.m. Monday by someone who climbed a power pole on Santa Monica Boulevard. About 150,000 homes throughout Los Angeles, Santa Monica, West Hollywood and Beverly Hills were without service from 30 seconds to an hour before backup systems went on line.
Rosendahl said he believes the incident may be related to contract negotiations involving about 190 of the company’s installers and technicians. Mmembers of the Communication Workers of America have voted to strike Friday. CWA officials have offered to assist Century in its investigation.
