Irene Mary Schuerger; Retired Legal Secretary

Irene Mary Schuerger, a longtime San Fernando Valley resident, has died at her Burbank home. She was 85.
Mrs. Schuerger died Saturday of complications from heart problems, said her son, David Schuerger.
She was born Irene Mary Reichel on June 23, 1905, in Cleveland.
Mrs. Schuerger married Rein Schuerger and the couple moved to Burbank in 1935. She moved to South San Francisco in the late 1940s and ran her own coffee shop until moving back to Burbank in 1960. She worked as a legal secretary until two months before her death.
In the early 1940s, Mrs. Schuerger was grand region of the Catholic Daughters, Court of St. Anthony. She was a longtime member of the St. Finbar Breakfast Club.
She is survived by her sons, David Schuerger of Burbank, Rein Schuerger of San Fernando and Richard Schuerger of Bonita, Calif.; sisters, Goldie Zunt of Albuquerque, N.M., and Florie Berry of Cleveland; 20 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A rosary is scheduled to be recited at 8 tonight at Valley Funeral Home, 2121 W. Burbank Blvd. in Burbank. A Mass is to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Finbar Catholic Church, 2010 W. Olive St. in Burbank.
