An Alternate Look at Actress Who Clashed With Reporter

Share

Regarding Jan Herman’s article about the Shakespeare Benefit Performance: You blew it. It is unfortunate that Ms. McGillis and Mr. Herman met when both were obviously having a rough day. The former gave a terrible interview, the latter wrote a catty, shallow article that completely missed the mark.

Under the bold heading, “Theater,” the article only briefly covers the topic, which is extremely important to those of us who suffer with the Garden Grove City Council’s “blue-collar mentality” (“our local folk here don’t understand Shakespeare”). Our shortsighted council has cut back on funding the most important Shakespeare production in Southern California (besides San Diego’s).

Rather than cover that aspect of the story, we are presented with a gossipy narrative of how the journalist doesn’t get the story. Who cares? Shame on you for running it.
