A Heartfelt Thanks for Opening Arms

During the early hours on June 9, a tragedy struck, and our youngest of four daughters died in a one-car crash in Long Beach. Rebecca Joy Long was 17 years old, a senior at Los Alamitos High School and due to graduate on June 20.
As many of you know, Becky was a cheerful, loving person who was friendly to everyone and touched more lives than even her family could begin to imagine. The services for her were attended by more than 1,000 people, and there were in excess of 200 cars in the procession to the cemetery.
Although we are trying to reach everyone who sent cards and showed their expression of sympathy to our family, it is nearly impossible.
Please let this be our heartfelt thanks to all of you who opened your arms, hearts and homes to us, as well as those of you who donated to organizations to help troubled young people. Becky’s goal in life was to become a social worker or counselor to help young people in need.
It seems we hear only about the youth of today who, for one reason or another, become a problem in our society. This tragic time has shown that today’s youth is surely a group to be proud of, and it is evident that they are in the majority.
