The City Council has approved an agreement with a Montclair car dealer to put a new Jeep-Eagle auto dealership in the Pomona Auto Center, along the Corona Expressway.

The agreement calls for the redevelopment agency to sell the 3.3-acre site for $445,776 to Pomona Valley Jeep-Eagle Inc., which has been formed by the owner of Pomona Valley Dodge in Montclair. The redevelopment agency will give the dealer $400,000 in sales tax rebates if the dealership meets certain conditions, including opening within a year after the close of escrow.

Douglas B. Dunlap, deputy executive director of the redevelopment agency, said the owners plan to open the dealership in eight months and expect to generate $20 million in sales the first year.
