THE SIDELINES : Al Unser Checks Out of Hospital
Veteran Indy-car driver Al Unser was released today from an Indianapolis hospital, where he had been treated for injuries suffered last week in Michigan.
Jon White, a spokesman for Methodist Hospital, said Unser flew home to Albuquerque, N.M., on a private jet.
The four-time Indianapolis 500 winner suffered a broken thigh and collarbone and three cracked ribs in a crash during practice at the Michigan International Speedway last Thursday. His son, Al Unser Jr., went on to win Sunday’s Marlboro 500.
White said doctors expect Unser to resume racing by the end of next month.
