WORLD : Palestinians Stab, Behead Arab
Palestinian militants fatally stabbed a suspected collaborator with Israel, cut off his head and hung it from an electrical line in a West Bank town, an Arab witness said today.
The army confirmed the death Thursday of Idris Akeel and said it was under investigation by police. Police officials refused comment.
Akeel, 45, was driving near the town of Dura when he was ambushed by fellow-Arab militants hurling stones at his car, said a villager who would give only her first name, Salma.
“He came out with a pistol in his hand and began shooting,” Salma said. She said Akeel was eventually overcome by his knife-wielding attackers.
