Police arrested a 23-year-old Cypress man early Sunday in connection with a stabbing in an alley outside the victim’s home.

Pedro Anaya, 23, was being held in Huntington Beach jail after his release Sunday afternoon from Long Beach Memorial Hospital. Anaya was treated for head wounds suffered when two unidentified witnesses to the alleged stabbing hit him with a wooden stick or a bat and fled when police arrived, authorities said.

The victim, Salvador Ortiz Gonzales, 23, of Huntington Beach, suffered a stab wound to the chest and was released on Sunday from Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.

The 2:30 a.m. incident occurred as Gonzales was walking along Koledo Lane, toward an alley near his home on Queens Lane.

He was confronted by a group of three men, one of whom allegedly was Anaya. Although the two other men fled, the wounded Anaya was apprehended near the scene, police said.
