Portugal Forest Fire Kills 1, Injures 40

COVILHA, Portugal —
A forest fire swept down on a textile town in central Portugal over the weekend, killing one resident and injuring 40, firefighters reported.
Acting Prime Minister Fernando Nogueira, who flew to the town, said the blaze also destroyed up to 30 homes on the outskirts. A camping park, dozens of cars and part of a textile factory were also destroyed.
