Ammunition Find Closes Part of Chesapeake Shore

Associated Press

A one-mile stretch of beach was temporarily closed Saturday after at least 28 shells--some of which may date back to the Civil War--turned up in sand dredged from the Chesapeake Bay.

Officials said that most of the ammunition probably came from an area previously used for target practice.
