School Board OKs Ban on Koreatown Builder
- Share via
The Los Angeles Unified School District’s Board of Education approved an agreement Monday calling for a Koreatown builder to forgo bidding on district contracts for the next five years because of alleged construction problems.
District officials said work by Lucky Construction Co. has been plagued by shoddy workmanship and unsafe conditions. Lucky, which has been the low bidder on $5 million in renovation work since 1987, has denied the charges.
Officials say the agreement is necessary because state law calls for them to give school contracts to the low bidder.
