From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Texas Gov. Bill Clements denounced as nonsense requests that two state officials be forced to resign for participating in a training exercise in which tracking dogs search out prison inmates. The state Civil Liberties Union and a legislator have assailed participation in the exercise by Jerry Hodge, a Texas Board of Criminal Justice member, and Glenn McMennamy, a Human Services Department board member. Hodge said the inmate volunteers are not chased down but lay tracks, then wait for the dogs to find them.
