CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : OAKLAND : Suspect Arrested in BART Slaying

A massive effort by the Bay Area Rapid Transit District’s 152 police officers resulted in the arrest of a suspect in the first-ever homicide aboard a BART train, officials said. Lamount J. Williams, 18, was arrested in the Aug. 4 stabbing of Daniel Kirby of Berkeley who was killed as a Fremont-bound train approached the Ashby Station, BART Deputy General Manager John Haley said.
