Hewlett-Packard Co.: The computer maker cited slowing sales rates and increased expenses and taxes for a 5% drop in its third-quarter earnings, to $178 million. Sales in the period ended July 30 rose 8% to $3.2 billion. Separately, the Palo Alto-based firm said it is moving its PC group headquarters to Grenoble, France, from the Silicon Valley. The company said the move reflects the growing importance of the European and international markets for HP’s personal computer products.
