Gap Inc.: The San Francisco-based operator of Gap, GapKids and Banana Republic clothing stores said second-quarter net income rose 36% to $19.2 million, while revenue increased 24% to $405 million. The firm said strong consumer acceptance of new merchandise late in the quarter, coupled with warmer weather, helped boost results.
