THE SIDELINES : Orioles Reactivate Billy Ripken
The Orioles reinstated Billy Ripken today from the 15-day disabled list and optioned Jeff McKnight to Rochester, the team said.
Ripken had been on the disabled list since Aug. 5 with a stress fracture of the right foot.
McKnight, an infielder-outfielder, was recalled from triple-A Rochester the same day Ripken was disabled. In his two weeks with the Orioles, McKnight appeared in nine games and batted .333, going seven for 21 with two runs batted in.
Ripken was to be in uniform tonight against the Red Sox in Boston.
