In 1968, the Bolsa All-Stars from Santa Ana lost 3-0 in the semifinals after pitcher Orlando Calleros split his pants and was pulled from a scoreless game. . . . The Northwood All-Stars from Irvine made it to the finals in 1987, only to see their star pitcher, Aron Garcia, shelled for 21 runs in 2 2/3 innings. In an interview earlier this year, Garcia was still numb: “How? How could I have given up all those runs?”
