SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : Bonds Clear Way for 2 New Schools
- Share via
Two new schools will be built in the eastern Aliso Viejo area with the approval this week of a $75-million bond issue by the Capistrano Unified School District Board of Trustees.
The schools are among 10 in the district to be funded through the state’s “50/50 Fast Track” program that provides state funding for school construction if half of the project can be funded by the school district.
The district is paying for its half with a community services tax on local homeowners established with the approval of the Mission Viejo Co. in March of 1987, said Jacqueline Cerra, district spokeswoman.
A school for kindergarten through the eighth grade will be built west of Moulton Parkway, between Laguna Hills Drive and Alicia Parkway. A school for kindergarten through sixth grade will be built at the southwest corner of Aliso Creek Road and Alicia Parkway.
