Metro Blue Line trains carried 18,850 passengers Tuesday, the highest one-day weekday volume since revenue operations began Aug. 1, RTD officials announced today.

It brings ridership to 340,416 since fares have been charged and more than 1,010,000 passengers since the light rail began service July 14 between Long Beach and Los Angeles.

“To us, this signals that we are providing safe, clean and efficient service to those along the Blue Line corridor who have long been seeking answers to better transit,” said Nicolas Patsaouras, president of the Southern California Rapid Transit District board.
