Bucky Sinister, Known for Fiery Poetry, Will Read

San Francisco poet Bucky Sinister, known for his fiery poetry and high-energy delivery, will read at the Poets Reading meeting at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Fullerton Museum Center, 301 N. Pomona Ave., Fullerton.

Admission: $3.

Sinister, who sports a buzz haircut and combat boots, will be joined on stage by a mystery guest, poet Wendy-O. According to Poets Reading official Michael Logue, Wendy-O is also from San Francisco, but “all we know is that she can stand Bucky Sinister. Now that’s some recommendation!”

Both poets are part of the poetry group’s Poet Exchange Program with the Bay Area.

Poets Reading is a nonprofit corporation organized to present public readings and to provide scholarships to creative writing students in local colleges and universities. The readings are held every other Saturday at the Fullerton Museum Center.

Book Signings: Ed McBain (“Three Blind Mice”) and William Murray (“The Getaway Blues”) will sign from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Book Carnival, 870 N. Tustin Ave., Orange.

Book Sale: The Friends of the Fullerton Library will hold a used magazine and paperback sale from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Fullerton Main Library auditorium, 353 Commonwealth Ave.

Among the hundreds of titles available are math, science, computer, automotive and hobby books, in addition to Sunset, Gourmet and National Geographic magazines. Most of the magazines are 20 cents each and paperbacks are priced from 25 cents.

All proceeds will benefit the main library and the Hunt Branch Library.

Writing Workshops: Orange County novelist Douglas Muir will conduct two writing workshops beginning Monday and Tuesday in association with Irvine Valley College. Classes will be offered at 1 p.m. Mondays at the Irvine Senior Center and at 1 p.m. Tuesdays at the Laguna Beach Senior Center. Information: (714) 559-3284. Free.
