Cocaine Suspect, 46, Found Dead in Jail Cell
A 46-year-old man in custody on narcotics-related charges was found dead in his Parker Center jail cell Thursday and an autopsy was pending to determine how he died, police said.
A jailer discovered the man during a routine cell check about 3:30 p.m., Lt. William Hall said. Police declined to release the man’s identity, pending notification of relatives.
There were no obvious signs of trauma to the body, Hall said.
Investigators did not believe the man was involved in any arguments with jailers or any of the 14 other prisoners housed in the same cell area, Hall said. The man was arrested Wednesday in South-Central Los Angeles for allegedly trying to sell cocaine to undercover narcotics agents.
