Sales and Use Tax Revenues

Each month, city and county governments and other governmental organizations receive payments from the state in anticipation of actual sales tax revenues.

In the fourth month, they receive a cleanup payment--the difference between actual revenues and the amounts previously received--plus the first advance payment for the next quarter.

The amounts listed here are the second advance payments for the second quarter. And of the seven cities in the county’s central section, three received more this July than in July, 1989, while the other four received less.

Santa Ana and Orange dominated this disbursement, receiving between them $6 of every $10 sent to the section, even though Santa Ana’s total is 9% less than last year.

The central area, as an aggregate, took in 31% of all the monies received by the county and city governments during July.
