More U.S. Warships Transit Suez Canal

SUEZ, Egypt —
Three U.S. warships--the frigates Elmer Montgomery and Tomas C. Hart and the combat support ship Detroit--sailed through the Suez Canal on Thursday on their way to join the Western armada in the Persian Gulf region, shipping sources reported.
The U.S. aircraft carrier Saratoga, accompanied by the guided missile cruisers Biddle and Philippine Sea, passed through the canal Wednesday.
