Multifamily Home Permit Futures

Multifamily housing permits hit a 1990 high in June, the latest month for which information is available. In fact, the June total of 1,377 is the highest monthly amount since April, 1988.

June, combined with a healthy April, helped put the first six months of this year 14% ahead of the comparable period for 1989. It is, however, well behind the six-month totals for 1986-88.

Major increases from 1989 in the unincorporated areas as well as the cities of Irvine, Orange and Garden Grove account for much of the change from last year despite significant declines in Anaheim, Fullerton, Mission Viejo and Huntington Beach. Here’s the city-by-city outlook:
