Why No Arrests Made in Racial Attack on Girl?

Share

I have been shocked and dismayed by the beating of a young black girl and the subsequent action, or lack thereof, by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

You hear a lot about values and morality from our religious and political leaders in Orange County. There is even a group here, The Traditional Values Coalition, whose sole purpose is to restore values to our society. Yet, we hear nothing from this group. Isn’t beating a person because of the color of her skin enough of a threat to our “traditional values”?

Are values and morality only to be brought up in the context of suppressing a group with whom we disagree? Are they only issues to win an election with and then be discarded until it’s time to be reelected? If not, then let our political and religious leaders speak out with the same moral outrage and condemnation that they use in their fight against homosexuality, flag burning and the use of federal funds for “obscene” art.
