Mirrors Can Make Small Bath Larger

Share

Q: The bathroom just off my entry is very small. Without making major structural changes, how can I make it a special place?

A: One of the most common aesthetic mistakes made in bathrooms is not taking the vanity mirror all the way up to the ceiling, and in cases where it is possible, sideways from wall to wall. Installing the vanity mirrors in this manner would create the openness you seek without making costly structural changes.

Makeup lights have a tendency to bring a cheerful brightness to a bathroom. Also, keep the colors of the walls light. If using wallpaper, avoid large or busy patterns. The flooring should be in keeping with the overall lightness of the walls, whether you use carpet or tile. An overall use of soft pastels or monochromatic tones should do the job.
