Slaying Victims Carried Drug Money, Police Say
The two Oakland men found shot to death earlier this month in Carson behind a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant were robbery victims who had been carrying large amounts of money, apparently to purchase drugs, authorities said.
The bodies of Derrick Turner, 22, and Tracy Bolton, 24, were found lying side by side in the parking lot behind the restaurant.
Curtis Melvin Lester and Richard Whitehurst, both 28 and also from Oakland, have been arrested on suspicion of murder at a Compton home where authorities said they discovered evidence linking them to the shooting. The suspects are both on federal probation for drug arrests, authorities said.
