Man Found Guilty of Threatening President

SEATTLE —
A man who sent a threatening letter to President Bush and said he would “punch his lights out” if the President visited the Northwest has been convicted on three counts and could face up to 15 years in prison.
Defense lawyer Robert Leen chastised prosecutors for trying Eugene Hains, 43, instead of ordering him to get mental health treatment. Leen said Hains suffered from post-traumatic stress syndrome after serving in Vietnam and never intended to carry out the threats.
