Washington State got the usual productive performance from its passing game Saturday night.

However, the Cougars’ 21-3 victory over Texas Christian at Ft. Worth, Tex., was also a result of its pass defense.

Quarterback Brad Gossen completed 18 of 27 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns and Michael Wright and Chris Moton had key interceptions in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Wright intercepted a pass from TCU quarterback Leon Clay and returned it 48 yards to the Horned Frogs’ nine. Rich Swinton scored from a yard out four plays later.

Moton’s interception of a Mark Vogler pass at the Cougar 12 put an end to a TCU rally.

Gossen staked the Cougars to a 7-3 halftime lead with a 28-yard scoring pass to Clarence Williams and then made it 14-3 with a three-yard, third-quarter touchdown toss to Shaumbe Wright-Fair.

Washington State got interceptions from Michael Wright and Chris Moton in the final quarter.

Montana 22, Oregon State 15--Grady Bennett passed for two touchdowns, ran for a third and executed a perfect 65-yard quick kick at Corvallis, Ore., as the Division I-AA Grizzlies beat the Beavers for the first time in 15 meetings between the two schools.

After falling behind 22-0, Oregon State scored the final 15 points of the game. But the Beavers comeback hopes were thwarted when, on third-and-11 on the Montana 34-yard line, Bennett dropped back and punted the ball downfield and was downed inside the Oregon State one-yard line with 9:11 left.
