The Big East Conference is considering expansion to add football and, potentially, such new members as Miami and West Virginia, league and school officials said.
Only three of the nine Big East schools--Syracuse, Pittsburgh and Boston College--play major-college football, and those three have been approached by others to form an Eastern Seaboard Conference, along with Miami, West Virginia, Rutgers, Temple and Virginia Tech.
Syracuse, Pittsburgh and Boston College are expected to approach the other league members within the next two weeks to talk about adding at least three schools.
