Sumitomo Forestry Co. has launched a 50-50 joint venture with major Indonesian forestry firm KLI to manufacture particle board in central Java.
The Tokyo-based company, a member of the giant Sumitomo Group, said the new firm, Rimba Particle Indonesia, is capitalized at $10 million and will build a plant with a monthly production capacity of 353,100 cubic feet.
The facility is scheduled to operation in May, 1992, producing 3.2 billion yen ($21.3 million) worth of particle board a year, the company said.
