Although the year got off to a good start, summer business wasn’t too hot for Orange County’s hotels and tourist attractions, with a flat June and July. The August numbers aren’t in yet, but rising oil prices certainly didn’t help. . . . “It’s a general softness felt all around the country,” says William Snyder of the Anaheim Tourist and Convention Center. In 1989, Anaheim drew more conventioneers than Los Angeles, but fewer than San Francisco (above).
