Danny Everett, formerly of UCLA, and Roberto Hernandez of Cuba set a world best in the 300-meter dash in a track and field meet at Seville, Spain.
Everett and Hernandez were clocked in the identical time of 31.48 seconds, but officials awarded the victory to Everett. The previous mark of 31.69 was set by Hernandez at Bratislava, Czechoslovakia, in July.
