David W. Fair; Retired U.S. Air Force Navigator

David W. Fair, a retired U.S. Air Force navigator and longtime Woodland Hills resident, has died in Northridge. He was 60.

Fair died Friday of a heart attack, said his wife, Joyce Fair.

Fair was born and raised in Glendale and graduated from Glendale High School. He then served in the U.S. Air Force as a navigator, retiring in 1968 with the rank of major.

Fair later worked in various fields, including insurance. At the time of his death, he was working as a security officer at Great Western Bank in Northridge.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years; sons John Fair of Woodland Hills and Michael Fair of Newbury Park; daughters Denise Sager of Williams, Ore., Andrea Schmidt of Terrebonne, Ore., and Christina Fair of Woodland Hills; and five grandchildren.

A Mass is scheduled to be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Bernadine’s Catholic Church, 22410 Calvert St. in Woodland Hills. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth. Gates, Kingsley & Gates in Canoga Park handled the arrangements. Donations can be made in Fair’s name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Southern California chapter in Glendale.
