Michael Lynne has been named president and chief operating officer of New Line Cinema Corp. Lynne has served as general counsel to New Line, which is based in New York, since 1984. He is also a member of the board of directors.

Lynne was actively involved in New Line’s purchase of a stake in RHI Entertainment Inc. and in securing North American distribution rights to the sequel to “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” The president’s position was previously held by Robert Shaye, New Line’s chairman and chief executive.
