Manhattan Beach Picks New Mayor

Manhattan Beach City Councilman Steve Barnes was elected mayor Tuesday, succeeding Connie Sieber. Barnes, who was elected to the council in 1988, was unanimously chosen for the ceremonial post by the council.
Councilman Bob Holmes was chosen mayor pro tem, also by a unanimous vote. Holmes was first elected to the council in 1980.
