Region : Beach Cleanup Help Needed
Organizers of the sixth annual Coastal Cleanup Day on Sept. 22 say they want to attract more than 10,000 volunteers to help remove trash and debris from state beaches.
“This trash isn’t just ugly, its dangerous,” said Wayne Guthrie, president of the California State Parks Foundation, co-sponsor of the event with the California CoastalCommission and the recycling division of the state Department of Conservation.
Volunteers are being asked to work from 9 a.m. to noon at a beach of their choice. In Los Angeles County, information may be obtained from the Department of Beaches and Harbors, (213) 546-8856.
