Cecilia C. Mann; Owned Dry-Cleaning Store

Cecilia C. Mann, who operated a dry-cleaning store in Northridge for 33 years, has died. She was 86.

A resident of Sepulveda, Mrs. Mann died Wednesday in Northridge of cancer, said her daughter, Marilyn Powers.

Born Cecilia Hough on Jan. 25, 1904, in Volin, S.D., she moved to California in the late 1920s. She married Henry Mann in 1934 and the couple opened California Dry Cleaners in Los Angeles. The shop was later closed. In 1951 they opened Rancho Dry Cleaners in Northridge, which they owned until 1984.

Mrs. Mann, a longtime resident of Chatsworth and Northridge, was active with the Northridge Chamber of Commerce. She was also a charter member of Soroptimist International of West Valley and served as club president in the early 1980s.

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Powers of Cuyama, Calif. Mrs. Mann’s husband died last year.

A graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at San Fernando Mission Cemetery, 11160 Stranwood Ave. in Mission Hills. Bastian & Perrott Mortuary in Northridge is handling the arrangements. Donations can be made in Mrs. Mann’s name to the American Cancer Society, San Fernando Valley unit.
